Hank -- I am the owner of a 99 Hero Majestic Panther. From what I can tell, the Pacer / Panther / Ankur all have the same engine, and vary only in body styling and accessories. So far, the Panther has proven to be a reliable ride. The Hero's all have a pretty straighforward design, and are one of the more inexpensive peds that you can buy new. I am of the opinion that they are a good value. As far as parts go, Handy Bikes in Columbus, OH (www.handybikes.com) is one of the major distributors in the country and has a pretty full stock of replacement parts for these models. I haven't seen parts for these bikes many other places. My panther tops out at about 25 - 27 MPH. I've been trying to hop it up, but I haven't seen many performance parts. I welded a Biturbo muffler from a Puch onto the exhaust system. It didn't make any difference at all -- I found out why when I pulled the header. The diamater of the head pipe is about half the diamater of the hole in the exhaust manifold. With that much restriction at the header, it really doesn't matter what muffler you throw on there (the header is SMALL -- I can't fit my middle finger into it). I'm currently trying to find a header that has a bigger diamater so I can de-restrict this bike. I think the bike would be much faster with better pipes. Also, it hesitated alot right off the line. This problem was solved by upping the size of the main jet on the carb. Now it has a nice smooth response. The stock main is a 51, I threw on a 55. I highly recommend this mod for the few bucks it will cost you. One thing to look out for with the Hero's is the paint job. Every Hero I've seen has paint that is mediocre to just plain bad. The paint job on mine is passable, but does have some chips and drips. I also think the graphics and the "Electronic" written on the side panels are kind of cheesy, but what the hell. Good luck!!
