Greetings -20

I have a 1999 Tomos Sprint that I purchased recently for some quick and
easy transportation. I live in an apartment so I don't have a garage
or
shed to store it...20
I just lock it to my back steps and cover it with a huge tarp.
Sometimes I forget to cover it though, and at times it gets drenched
with rain. Now the front wheel lock is almost completely rusted - it
won't be useable soon. And there are other signs of rust all over the
bike. Is there anything I can do to prevent this besides finding a
garage or trying to remember to cover it? Do regular motorcycles rust
this quickly? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
